When comparing the Amazon Kindle to the Apple iPad, Amazon has a great reason to be satisfied, having been rated to be amongst the best ebook reader by consumers who were able to test the Kindle for its performance by conducting may lab tests as seen on www.ConsumerReports.org
The reading abilities of the Apple iPad were also examined, but weren’t immediately compared alongside the Amazon Kindle. For it’s reading capabilities, the Amazon Kindle contained a much more crisp and readable screen when compared to other ebook readers such as the iPad. With the Amazon Kindle the the page turns were also much faster. The portability and size of the latest Kindle generation 2 were much more favored by consumers because of the light weight and increased portability as a result (this was in comparison of older Kindle models such as the Kindle DX).
For other ebook readers, the Noble Nook (by Barnes and Noble ) was highly rated for a much faster page turn as in comparison to the Kindle 2. Although fast page turns were a postive, the Barnes and Noble Nook was much more heavier and not as crisp as the Kindle 2. Additional observations disclosed the Nook as having more complex navigation of the touch controls and content.
In the Sony ebook readers consumers were able to evaluate the Touch Edition PRS600 as well as the PRS900 based on their versatility and performance. Both were able to rate quite well when it came to their ability to function as digital notepads for drawings or text. With the Sony Daily Edition however, consumers rated the device as being quite expensive and heavy, meanwhile, the Touch Edition was rated as not having enough (unlimited) free 3G wireless connection ability, thus why ebooks aren’t accessible anywhere you go (this was the oposite for the Kindle ).
Keep in mind that with the Amazon Kindle you will not receive a protective cover; in order to keep your Kindle protected, you will need to use a protective cover/case in order to avoid the screen getting scratched as well as other surface damage.
